How Wits Calculates APS (The 8-Point Scale)
Wits calculates your APS differently from other universities. To reward academic distinction, scores between 90% and 100% are awarded 8 points instead of 7. Life Orientation is completely excluded from the point calculation:
| NSC Percentage Range | NSC Level | Wits APS Points Awarded |
|---|---|---|
| 90% – 100% | Level 7+ | 8 Points |
| 80% – 89% | Level 7 | 7 Points |
| 70% – 79% | Level 6 | 6 Points |
| 60% – 69% | Level 5 | 5 Points |
| 50% – 59% | Level 4 | 4 Points |
| 40% – 49% | Level 3 | 3 Points |
| 0% – 39% | Level 1 – 2 | 0 Points |
